Don’t drink and drive!

Together with the other associations of the alcohol industry, the German breweries have been working since 1993 to reduce the number of alcohol-related accidents with the wellknown campaign DONT DINK AND DRIVE DDAD. Anyone who gets behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol risks their own life as well as that of other road users.

The oldest ongoing road safety campaign in Germany warns of these risks, which the German Brewers’ Association has strengthened through numerous activities in 2020/2021.

#KeineAusreden (#No excuses) was the message that was transported nationwide by the brewing industry via posters and social media in 2020/2021. The campaign was under the patronage of the Drug Commissioner of the Federal Government, Daniela Ludwig MdB. She was appointed until December 2021.

To support the re-launch of the hospitality sector after months of lockdown and at the same time make the message DONT DRINK AND DRIVE visible, the series “Endlich wieder zusammen” (“Finally together again”) was distributed via social networks in the early summer of 2021. The subtitle makes it clear: “Be happy. Celebrate yourselves. And remember: DONT DRINK AND DRIVE.”

“Social. Without media” was the message that was conveyed via out-of-home and social networks in autumn 2021. With the campaign the brewing industry linked up with regained freedoms after long months of lockdown. The subtitle makes it clear what it’s all about: “Celebrate, laugh, live. And remember: DONT DRINK AND DRIVE.”

The road safety campaign DONT DRINK AND DRIVE went on tour with the “DDAD Academy” for the 8th time in 2021. The Academy team visited professional schools in Hesse with a focus on the automotive, technical and catering sectors. The aim of the campaign is to sensitive professional school students to the topic of “alcohol in road traffic” at an early stage and also to educate them about the applicable rules for e-bikes and e-scooters.
